〈When You Grow Up〉一曲的变化演进就正是这样的一种境界。 (Text/Sin:Ned)

In China, ZenLu exists among a generation that is being experimented as well as documented. They are a generation that was once touted as a beautiful flower. Yet, many of them failed to produce healthy fruits, but instead, as if by genetic mutation, transformed into weeds that blindly followed within a desolate city, or became as gaunt and anxious like withered flowers of yesterday.
During his early days, ZenLu was similar to the predecessors of his generation who took up the guitars to rebel against the system, and to fight against senselessness. And yet, he managed not to immerse nor expose too much of himself in the tide of rock n' roll. Most of the time, he takes on the role of a practitioner in action, explores and meditates on systems with the eye of an outsider. Thus, this initial venture into experimental sound arts is the result of his endeavor. Though the sound of his music may be considered as a new voice in music industry, nonetheless, when listened to carefully, one can hear mature tones with a clear and distinctive motive. This is a product of Zenlu's diligent thinking and courageous creativity.
In his debut album, as ambitious as ZenLu might be, he is still cautious towards extending his senses into the dimensions of sound. The result of his reservation can be seen in the introverted and delicate quality of his music. He merely transforms his inner turmoil into a cyclical Loop, as well as turning modern anxieties into “burning fuel” to dissolve. Wang Wei, a poet from the Tang dynasty, was renowned for his picturesque poetry, and ZenLu's music takes the same approach by using cut-and-paste sound to build up different kinds of unusual and spectacular sights. For example, in Dreams , nature transforms itself mysteriously within the immense darkness, putting its listeners into the boundless vision of time and dimension. With a mellow and smooth tone, his song Sound of Love is simple and filled with spirit. The whole track gives off a feeling of wonder and delicateness, yet at the same, seemingly stretches into eternity.
ZenLu chooses not to be experimented and documented. He opts to quietly experiment and document himself on his own. This uniqueness and distinctiveness of his creativity may be humbling, yet also self-centered at the same time. He uses sound to record what he thinks, what he sees, and what he hears. And we can see through to his innermost thoughts and feelings, and dance through the darkness with his rhythm.(text/Cimy)
